Review

We LOVE these cards. Bought this for my three year old. It was a HUGE hit because he was and still is an animal lover! We started with matching mommy and baby, letter sounds, sorting alphabetically and every time it is a lot of fun! He even likes to spell words out with the letters. We have had it for over a year and he always loves playing with this. We have just recently started playing Go Fish with this. I am so glad I found this at a drug store. I wish they carry more such fun and educational games. I am sure this can be a fun game to enjoy while you are travelling (we haven't done that yet). --School Zone WebsiteMy 6 yr old daughter and I have a lot of fun playing this game. She loves that they are all animals and loves looking at the pictures of both the baby and momma. It is helping her decipher between the lower case letter and upper case letter...while also a good refresher of the alphabet for first grade. We can play for hours! --School Zone WebsiteAt under $3, I figured, why not? It was the best $3 we've spent in a very long time. This is the perfect game for our 4 year old who is really starting to learn his letters and how to play games. We play it both as the standard Go Fish game and also as a set of flash cards to help figure out which letters he still struggles with. I'd still recommend this at three times the current price! --Amazon

At under $3, I figured, why not? It was the best $3 we've spent in a very long time. This is the perfect game for our 4 year old who is really starting to learn his letters and how to play games. We play it both as the standard Go Fish game and also as a set of flash cards to help figure out which letters he still struggles with. I'd still recommend this at three times the current price!

Some people will complain that the cards are too big for kids to hold but just as many will say they liked that the cards were big. It didn't bother me either way. Mostly, we played a matching game on the ground. I don't think these are really that great for teaching letter but more for reinforcing them. It's best to teach kids capital letters first (and out of order). Adding lower case in is confusing. Also, I found my son quickly just looked at the pictures and not the letters. You could make these at home easy enough. It's an adult animal on the capital card and their baby on the lowercase. If you have a toddler, maybe they would pic up some of the letters as a by product but I don't recommend as a teaching tool specifically.

We have tried several different games with our nearly 3 year old and this is the first that can hold her attention. The illustrations are cute and she has no trouble recognizing/remembering the animal names (except she confuses the baby quail and baby umbrella bird occasionally). We've also been excited to see her starting to recognize the letters and associate them with their sounds since we ask those in addition to the animal name. I think the larger size of these cards is nice, but as she can't hold cards well yet, we use a card holder.

I purchased this Go Fish game to play with my three year old twin sons. I have looked at other "Go Fish" cards but was always disappointed that the cards consisted of several spices of fish -- this is too complicated for my 3 year olds. These cards are great as all the cards contain animals (that go along with the corresponding letter, e.g. T is for turtle) that my children can match. However, you can also match the cards by matching the uppercase to lowercase letter. My sons are just starting to recognize lowercase letters so not only do we have fun playing this game, but they are also learning while we play. The cards are also larger than regular sized playing cards.

Love this game I bought it for my 4yr old niece she loves to play. It is great (she is able to say the letter and the animal that goes along with it thus practicing lessers(capital and lower case) along with their sound association eg. a A alligator ..

We had a set of these cards, and they were getting pretty beat up, so we thought we'd order a new set. Turns out the artwork has changed and all the animals are bright colors - blue mouse, green narwhal, purple quail, etc. - all the animals also "shine" like they were made of inflatable plastic. They're cheap, so there's no reason to send them back, but my family was a little disappointed with the changes. Amazon should also update the photo to reflect the changes in the product.

Great cards for the price! My 3 year old loves looking at the animals and we started playing go fish with some adapted rules for her age, but it’s been a lot of fun to add an age appropriate game to our house! I also think the illustrations are great.

We've been using this game you help my son learn to recognize the alphabet. We'll say "Do you a have a D for Duck", etc? And he's actually been able to recognize several new letters after playing regularly. My only complaint is how many times I've had to play Go Fish.
